Kept the photogenic shirt and Gorrick kept the mud – does it always rain on the day before? 23rd out of 45 and I did get lapped this time – but I think the proper racer boys where there. Might invest in some CO2 canisters for the next time so i can dump the backpack…

I stayed in on Saturday morning as I was expecting a recorded post delivery. Nothing had turned up by mid-morning so I went to the online tracker and discovered they claimed to have delivered it. Not having said parcel I was somewhat perturbed. Looking at the proof of delivery it had been signed for by someone I had never heard of!
As it was Saturday there wasn’t much I could do about it. So this morning I phone the supplier who’d sent the parcel. They do a bit of googling and look up the persons name on the Electoral Roll (!) and discover they live in a similarly named address the other side of Reading. It’s at this point I twig that the parcel had been delivered by the East Reading office, not the West Reading one as one would expect.
After a few calls it’s suggested I go to the delivery office in person as it’s hard to get them on the phone (! maybe they only do written communications?) So I go down there, explain what happened, as soon as I mention the address I think the parcel might have gone to the guy says ‘Aaah!’ pops off and comes back with my parcel! Yay
Faith in humanity confirmed because 1 – whoever it was wrongly delivered to took the parcel back to the delivery office and 2- the guy in the office remembered them and didn’t make it difficult for me to get the parcel.
Quite how it went to such a wrong address in the first place is another matter!

I read here that emails from the fscs to icesave customers were being marked as spam. So I looks in my spam folder and sure enough it is. Spamassasin reports

They really should have picked their bulk mail sender better….

The Gorrick race turned out to be quite gloopy due the the previous 12 hours of rain, though not as bad as it could be. My new bike took me to a dizzy 12th place in the Sport category, and I wasn’t lapped, so I count that as a victory! New bike can be put away till January now…
I must have had a more photogenic shirt than normal as there are more photos of me than usual

Time to fire up the new bike blog post generator. It’s an ex-demo Giant Anthem 2 from Mountain Trax – it might turn it an ongoing project as a some lighter wheels and a sprinkling of carbon bits would make it quite a light full suss race weapon
See me come last on Sunday….

I just realised yesterday was European in town without car day. And because of my injured back it was one of the very few days in the year that I am in town with my car

Had my first visit to the inside of an ambulance on Sunday evening, courtesy of a sudden stopping car. Turned out the car had some kind of mechanical failure causing it to stop much quicker than normal. I clipped my friends back wheel as she bashed into the car and flew through the air smacking it with my back. Not sure my helmet made much difference, but it did keep my head off the road as a I lay there wondering if I\’d be able to get up (once I\’d stopped my manly screaming).
Seem to be in once piece now, but very stiff….
